Oran Mor

‘Oran Mor’ is a Scots-Gaelic term that refers to a “Great Melody” woven throughout Celtic mythology – an ancestral song that echoes in the present for all who listen for it. The musical group Oran Mor adopted its name to highlight their rich repertoire of Scottish and Irish music, some of which dates back to the 1700s, along with more contemporary Celtic, Americana, and original compositions tossed into the mix. Musicians include Tom Cochran (guitar/vocals), Karen Mills-Cochran (guitar/recorders/vocals), Jonathan Satz (bass/vocals), and Bobby Campbell (flute/sax/percussion/vocals). With tunes that feature both modern and traditional instruments, along with exquisite vocal harmonies, Oran Mor’s music transports listeners to distant shores, telling tales of exotic cultures and beguiling journeys.

Barry Andersen

I am a long time New Castle resident of 40 years, started playing accoustic guitar in the New Castle area about 20 years ago at local jams, and open mics. Met my friends  Tom Evans & Kristine Edge and started a folk band called the Porch Pickers, after Kristine moved to mexico Joey Ball joined us for a few years. During open mics I've met so many great muscians and friends. From these meetings Joey and myself started a band called New Mamm Creek, it started off as a trio with Dane Wilson drumming for us, later we joined forces with Dan Brown, Tim Lyons ,Joe B., & Dan Werner. We played for a couple of years then the pandemic started, we went our seperate ways from there. Now I am doing mostly solo events, Farmers Markets, pizza restaurants, and other local venues. I love folk music new and old, so I try to mix in both. Also easy listening favorites.

More recently I play regularly at Drifters Coffee shop in New Castle, and also host a open mic there on the first Thursday of every month.
